Kennismakers - rabobank
For This Side Up’s bank, the cooperative and farmer oriented Rabobank, Maarten talked with Chiel from “De Pindakaaswinkel” (the Peanutbutter Shop) about entrepreneurship and planning your business. It was released in the early days of 2022 to inspire other entrepreneurs to talk to each other, and learn from each other.

KRO-NCRV - De prijsknaller
Why are some products so cheap? And is this even possible? The Dutch program “De Prijsknaller” (The Price Banger) showcases product value chains from beginning to end and explains why some products are simply too cheap to be true and who actually pays for this.
On this episode: coffee. Lennart and Maarten are interviewed about their stake on €4,00 per kg roasted coffee and what the real solution is for inequality, poverty and environmental problems in our beloved industry. It was presented prime time on Dutch national television on Friday the 25th of February 2022.

The Circular Coffee Fund
This Side Up is one of the founding partners of the Circular Coffee Fund; a non-profit fund where smart circular investments are made available for coffee producers to invest in sustainable measures on farm level.

The Producer CrossOver
In June 2019, the day before the World of Coffee conference in Berlin, This Side Up organised the second “Producer Crossover”. Co-organised and hosted by our friends at Coffee Circle.
Coffee farmers, coffee roasters and other coffee connected people discussed topics like the price crisis, sustainability measures and the do’s and don’ts of fine robusta.
The Futureproof Coffee Collective
This Side Up is one of the founding partners of the Futureproof Coffee Collective, which is part of MVO Nederland (CSR the Netherlands). It connects progressive coffee firms in the Netherlands in order to find a methodology for the true price of coffee (including social and ecological values) and paying accordingly.
In 2019, the first pilot project was started at This Side Ups partner at Argote Specialty Coffee in Colombia.

In October 2021, we held our first This Side Up masterclass, a series aimed to pick the brilliant minds of our origin partners.

A short Film About Coffee
In the Autumn of 2020, after quite a competitive process, we started supplying coffee to Rijkswaterstaat. This significant step meant having to showcase our message of transparency and equality to the mainstream coffee world for the first time…
Nothing explains these concepts better than video, so we shot a short film that shows Maarten with all our partners from beginning (in Indonesia with Ontosoroh and ASNIKOM) to end (with Zwarts Coffee, Selecta and Rijkswaterstaat) of a truly pioneering coffee value chain.
